Introduction to Configuration Management

Configuration management (CM) maintains software integrity throughout the process of the entire software life cycle, including maintenance.  It ensures that the correct version of each configuration item is incorporated into the appropriate configuration(s).  It is most commonly used with the waterfall development methodology, but has also been successfully adapted to the Agile methodology.  This class introduces you to the basics of CM as well as a practical process for establishing and maintaining a CM program that meets the corporate goals and information needs.   

You will:
•    Become familiar with the configuration management principles
•    Discover the basic four vital parts of configuration management
•    Understand how to develop configuration management plans and procedures
•    Find out the difference between configuration management and change management
